Telangana Government Scraps Controversial Land Law

The Telangana government has scrapped the controversial Telangana Rights in Land and Pattadar Pass Books Act, 2020, along with its Dharani online land records system, due to widespread criticism of inaccuracies and inadequate grievance resolution. To address these issues, the government introduced the Bhu Bharathi Bill, which aims to rectify Dharani’s shortcomings with a user-friendly portal, land re-surveys, and dispute resolution mechanisms. This initiative seeks to restore confidence among landowners, particularly rural and farming communities, while ensuring more effective governance and accurate land records.
