Shahid Madho Singh Haath Kharcha Scheme

The Shahid Madho Singh Haath Kharcha Scheme, launched in Odisha, provides a one-time incentive of ₹5,000 to Scheduled Tribe (ST) students enrolling in Class IX and Class XI. Aimed at reducing dropout rates among tribal students, the scheme targets families with annual incomes below ₹2.5 lakh and students attending government or government-aided schools. It honors Madho Singh, a tribal leader who resisted British colonial rule in the 1857 uprising. With a ₹156 crore allocation for 2024–2025, the initiative expects to benefit 300,000 students, promoting educational continuity, empowerment, and social equity among Odisha’s tribal population.
