Road Safety Sensor Prototype

Researchers at the Centre for Nano and Soft Matter Sciences (CeNS) have developed a road safety sensor prototype designed to improve safety at dangerous road curves. Made from a polymer nanocomposite, the sensor generates electricity using the piezoelectric effect and provides visual signals to warn drivers. The material combines PVDF with vanadium disulfide (VS2) for enhanced performance. Tested successfully in the lab, this technology aims to reduce accidents and is poised for future development. Findings have been published, and a patent has been filed, signaling the potential for commercial use.
