Rajasthan Road Safety Action Plan
Rajasthan has become the first Indian state to adopt a comprehensive 10-year Road Safety Action Plan aimed at reducing road accidents by 50% by 2030. The plan, backed by Deputy Chief Minister Prem Chand Bairwa, involves a phased implementation strategy focusing on basic safety, safety behaviors, and advanced measures. It includes international collaboration with the World Bank and coordination among various state departments. Key initiatives include safety audits, emergency response integration, and technology-based solutions like an Integrated Road Accident Database. Despite challenges such as high accident rates and enforcement issues, the plan aims to set a precedent for other states.
