Lokpal Day – January 16
January 16 has been designated as Lokpal Day to mark the establishment of the Lokpal of India, an anti-corruption ombudsman. The first observance, scheduled for 2025, will highlight the institution's role in promoting transparency and accountability in governance. Established under the Lokpal and Lokayuktas Act, 2013, the Lokpal investigates corruption among public officials, including the Prime Minister. The inaugural event, with Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna as chief guest, will be held at the Zorawar Auditorium, Delhi Cantt. Lokpal's future focuses on enhancing public awareness and fostering a culture of accountability in public service.
