Kerala Tops 2024 Food Safety Index
Kerala secured the top spot in the 2024 State Food Safety Index (SFSI) for the second consecutive year, demonstrating its commitment to food safety. Announced during the Global Food Regulators Summit 2024 by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), Kerala's success stems from exceeding inspection targets, improving food testing infrastructure, and increasing licensed food operators. Tamil Nadu and Jammu and Kashmir followed in the rankings. FSSAI, established in 2006, praised Kerala's efforts, which set a high standard for other states. Kerala's initiatives include regular inspections, legal actions, and public awareness campaigns.
