Indian Navy Hosts Goa Maritime Symposium 2024
Summary: The Indian Navy hosted the fifth edition of the Goa Maritime Symposium (GMS-24) from September 23 to 24, 2024, at the Naval War College in Goa. With the theme “Common Maritime Security Challenges in the Indian Ocean Region,” the symposium aimed to enhance cooperation among 14 participating countries, including Bangladesh, Indonesia, and Sri Lanka, to address threats like Illegal, Unreported, and Unregulated (IUU) fishing. Established in 2016, GMS promotes dialogue on maritime issues such as security, climate change, and piracy.
