Kandla Port Capacity Expansion

The Kandla Port, also known as Deendayal Port, is set to undergo significant expansion, with investments exceeding ₹57,000 crores. Initiatives include a ₹30,000-crore Mega Shipbuilding Facility to construct and repair VLCCs and a ₹27,000-crore cargo terminal to boost capacity by 135 MTPA. This expansion aims to modernise the port's infrastructure, enhance liquid cargo handling, and support India’s economic growth under the 'Make in India' vision. Projects like a mega terminal at Tuna Tekra and new oil jetties will further increase capacity. These developments position Kandla Port as a critical player in India’s maritime and global trade strategy.
