India Launches Cancer Data Portal

The Indian Cancer Genome Atlas (ICGA) has launched India’s first multi-omics data portal, providing crucial molecular data like DNA, RNA, and protein information from Indian cancer patients, initially focusing on breast cancer. The portal, which currently includes data from 50 patients and aims to expand to 500, addresses challenges in cancer treatment by offering personalized medicine tailored to Indian populations. The ICGA, started in 2020, seeks to enhance cancer research by understanding unique genetic traits in Indian patients, shifting away from reliance on Western-based research and improving targeted cancer treatments in India.
