India Assumes ADPC Chairmanship for 2024-25
India will chair the Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC) for 2024-2025, succeeding China. This leadership transition, announced on July 25, 2024, in Bangkok, Thailand, underscores India's growing importance in global disaster risk reduction (DRR) and climate resiliency. The Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI), initiated by Prime Minister Modi, exemplifies India's commitment to building disaster-resilient infrastructure. The ADPC focuses on capacity building, technological integration for early warning systems, and regional cooperation. Shri Rajendra Singh, a key figure in the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), will lead ADPC, driving India’s strategic efforts in disaster preparedness.
