What happened in Gujarat?

Recently, several Muslim men allegedly threw stones at a Navratri Garba event in Undhela village of Kheda district, Gujarat. According to the police, they had tried to prevent the event from being organized in an open space next to a mosque and a temple.
During the stone pelting, some 6 persons were injured and vehicles, including a police car, were damaged.
FIR was lodged against 9 persons who were then taken in front of the public. Policemen tied them against a pillar and caned them while the hundreds-strong crowd cheered, with slogans like ‘Gujarat Police Zindabad’.
Following outrage over the incident, the state’s police administration ordered an inquiry.
