Consumer Protection Apps (2024)

On National Consumer Day 2024, the Department of Consumer Affairs launched three innovative apps to enhance consumer protection against deceptive online practices, such as dark patterns. The Jago Grahak Jago App provides critical information about e-commerce platforms and alerts users about unsafe websites. The Jagriti App enables consumers to report unfair practices, with reports sent to the Central Consumer Protection Authority for action. The Jagriti Dashboard aggregates complaint data to track trends and prevalence of deceptive practices. These initiatives aim to empower consumers, promote awareness, and create a safer online marketplace while reinforcing government efforts in consumer protection.
