10 Years of UJALA Scheme

The UJALA scheme, launched in 2015, has revolutionized energy efficiency in India by promoting affordable LED lighting. Over 36 crore LED bulbs have been distributed, reducing electricity consumption and lowering household bills. The initiative slashed LED bulb prices to Rs 70, enabling mass adoption. Complementing UJALA, the Street Lighting National Programme (SLNP) installed over 1.34 crore LED streetlights, saving energy and costs for municipalities. Together, these programs have reduced India's carbon emissions by 6.2 million tonnes annually. With increased LED market share and reduced energy costs, UJALA demonstrates the potential for sustainable energy solutions, shaping India’s energy-efficient future.
