UNGA 79th Session Begins
The 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) began on 10th September 2024, bringing together representatives from 193 countries to address global issues. Led by President Philemon Yang of Cameroon, the session focuses on the theme “Leaving no one behind,” emphasizing peace, sustainable development, and human dignity. The general debate is scheduled from 24th to 30th September 2024. The UNGA meets annually, allowing all member states an equal vote on resolutions that, although not legally binding, significantly influence global policies. Established in 1945, it plays a crucial role in promoting international cooperation and addressing pressing world challenges.
