One Nation One Subscription (ONOS)

India’s One Nation One Subscription (ONOS) initiative, announced in November 2024, democratizes access to over 13,000 international scholarly journals for 1.8 crore beneficiaries, including students and researchers. Managed by INFLIBNET, it targets equitable knowledge distribution across 6,300 institutions, especially in tier 2 and 3 cities. With a ₹6,000 crore budget for 2025–27, ONOS covers subscription costs and supports publishing in Open Access journals. Phase I begins on January 1, 2025, complementing frameworks like the Anusandhan National Research Foundation. This initiative aligns with Viksitbharat@2047, aspiring to establish India as a global research leader.
