Launch of Abhay: New ASW Craft for Indian Navy
The Indian Navy launched 'Abhay,' its seventh Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft (ASW SWC), at L&T's shipyard in Kattupalli. This vessel, part of the Arnala class, strengthens India’s coastal defence capabilities. Designed for anti-submarine and low-intensity maritime operations, it marks significant progress in indigenous shipbuilding under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative. The ship, over 80% locally manufactured, is a key part of a contract with GRSE for eight ASW ships. It represents a critical step in modernizing India's naval fleet and bolstering maritime security.
