ISRO’s SPADEX Docking Mission

ISRO’s Space Docking Experiment (SPADEX) mission, set to demonstrate autonomous satellite docking, received two 400kg satellites assembled by Ananth Technologies, marking the first private-sector involvement in full satellite assembly for ISRO. SPADEX is essential for future missions like Chandrayaan-4 and India's planned space station by 2028, with docking technology crucial for safe crew transfers, space station construction, and lunar missions. The initiative reflects growing private sector participation following space sector reforms, boosting India’s space exploration capabilities. The satellites will undergo final tests at Sriharikota before launch.
