Indian Peacekeeper Wins 2023 UN Military Gender Advocate Award

Major Radhika Sen, an Indian peacekeeper in the DRC, won the 2023 UN Military Gender Advocate Award for her gender-sensitive initiatives in MONUSCO. She led the Engagement Platoon, improving safety and well-being in North Kivu. Her advocacy included educational and vocational training, promoting women's involvement. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres will present the award, highlighting the importance of peace and equality. MONUSCO, established in 2010, is a significant UN peacekeeping mission with unique capabilities.
