India-Australia Maritime Security Dialogue
The 6th India-Australia Maritime Security Dialogue, held on August 13, 2024, in Canberra, focused on enhancing maritime security cooperation, reflecting the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two nations. Discussions covered crucial areas like maritime security in the Indo-Pacific, maritime domain awareness, humanitarian assistance, search and rescue operations, and the blue economy. The dialogue also reviewed progress on the Indo-Pacific Ocean Initiative (IPOI), which was launched by India's Prime Minister Modi in 2019. This initiative emphasizes preserving maritime ecology. Both nations continue to address challenges such as piracy, illegal fishing, and cybersecurity in their efforts to promote regional peace and stability.
