India at 44th Codex Committee on Nutrition and Special Diets

India actively participated in the 44th Codex Committee on Nutrition and Foods for Special Dietary Uses (CCNFSDU) in Dresden, Germany, from October 2-6, 2024. India successfully proposed a combined Nutrient Reference Value (NRV) for children aged 6-36 months and advocated for updating outdated probiotic guidelines. Supported by several countries, India also opposed the European Union’s suggestion on sweetness testing in follow-up formulas. India’s delegation played a significant role in shaping food safety and nutrition discussions. The CCNFSDU, with over 170 participating countries, sets international standards for special dietary needs and global food safety.
