The 2023 Global Slavery Index has been published.
What:
- This is the 5th edition of the global index tracking modern slavery.
- According to the index, ‘modern slavery’ is the situation of exploitation that a person can’t refuse/ leave due to threats, violence, deception, coercion or abuse of power. This includes:
- Forced labour
- Forced/ servile marriage
- Debt bondage
- Sexual exploitation
- Human trafficking
- Slavery-like practices
