Global Hunger Crisis Deepens
The global hunger crisis has worsened, with 713-757 million people experiencing hunger in 2023, up from 7.5% in 2019 to 9.1%. While global food production has increased significantly, issues like affordability and inequality hinder access. Africa and Asia are the most affected, with Asia housing 52% of the undernourished population. Obesity is also rising in affluent regions, highlighting a dual challenge. Addressing these disparities is essential for achieving the UN’s Zero Hunger goal by 2030. The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) continues to lead efforts toward equitable food security.
