DRDO & IIT Delhi Develop Advanced Bulletproof Jackets

The Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) and IIT Delhi have developed the ABHED bulletproof jacket, providing 360-degree protection for soldiers. Made from advanced polymers and boron carbide ceramics, the lightweight jacket weighs between 8.2 and 9.5 kg, meeting the Indian Army's standards. This innovation, a product of the DRDO Industry Academia Centre of Excellence (DIA-CoE), is set to be produced by three Indian companies. The jacket represents a major advancement in personal armour technology and highlights the success of collaboration between research, universities, and industry.
