Dragon Drones in Russia-Ukraine Conflict
Dragon drones, which drop thermite—a highly destructive substance burning at over 2,400°C—have emerged as a significant tool in the Russia-Ukraine conflict since September 2024. Both sides use these unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to target enemy positions, vegetation, and military equipment. Thermite’s intense heat can melt through metals, making dragon drones extremely effective. However, the use of such incendiary weapons raises concerns over legality and ethics in warfare, though their use remains unrestricted under international laws as long as they are not deployed against civilians.
