Dinga Dinga: Uganda’s Mysterious Illness

A mysterious illness called "Dinga Dinga" has emerged in Uganda’s Bundibugyo district, affecting around 300 individuals, predominantly women and girls. Symptoms include fever, severe body shaking, and restricted mobility, alongside headaches, cough, and body aches. Health teams are administering antibiotics, with most patients recovering within a week. Investigations are ongoing to determine the illness's cause, with parallels drawn to past phenomena like the "Dancing Plague" of 1518. Public health authorities discourage herbal treatments, urging professional medical care. The illness is currently localized, with no fatalities or cases reported outside Bundibugyo.
