Cyclone Dana – Bay of Bengal

Cyclone Dana, expected to form in the Bay of Bengal in October 2024, is named by Qatar and symbolizes a precious pearl in Arabic. Managed by the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO), cyclone names are proposed sequentially by 13 member countries. As a low-pressure area in the Bay of Bengal intensifies, Dana may bring strong winds, heavy rains, and storm surges to coastal areas. Meteorological agencies are monitoring the situation, issuing early warnings to ensure safety. Following Dana, the next cyclones will be named Fengal, Shakhti, and Montha.
