Cabinet Approves ₹18,036 Crore Mumbai-Indore Rail Line Project
The Union Cabinet has approved a ₹18,036 crore project to construct a 309-kilometer rail line connecting Mumbai and Indore, expected to be completed by 2028-29. The project will enhance connectivity in Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh, benefiting 30 lakh people across 1,000 villages. Key features include 30 new stations and improved freight transport for goods like agricultural products and steel, supporting the Pithampur Auto Cluster. This initiative, part of the PM-Gati Shakti National Master Plan, aims to boost economic growth, agriculture, and tourism, especially in the Ujjain-Indore region.
