Boilers Bill, 2024
The Boilers Bill, 2024, introduced in Rajya Sabha, aims to replace the Boilers Act of 1923 to enhance safety and streamline boiler regulations in India. It decriminalizes three of seven offenses, retaining criminal penalties for severe violations to improve compliance and ease of doing business. The Bill mandates boiler repairs by qualified professionals, consolidates provisions into six chapters for clarity, and updates definitions to align with modern industry standards. It empowers the Central Boilers Board to oversee boiler design, manufacture, erection, and use across India. The legislation aims to modernize regulations and ensure worker safety while supporting industrial growth.
