Uttar Pradesh Waives Community Contribution Under ‘Har Ghar Nal’ Scheme

Uttar Pradesh has waived the 10% community contribution requirement under the ‘Har Ghar Nal’ scheme, a part of the Jal Jeevan Mission, benefiting approximately 2.33 crore families. This decision ensures that the government covers capital costs, reducing the financial burden on villagers, who now only pay a nominal Rs 50 maintenance charge. The scheme, focused on providing clean tap water to rural households, is supported by a Rs 2,000 crore allocation in the state budget. The initiative aligns with efforts to expand water accessibility, promote sustainability, and alleviate disparities in water supply across demographics.
