Punjab Achieves 100% Piped Water Supply
Punjab has achieved 100% piped water supply for all rural households under the Har Ghar Jal scheme. Additionally, the state is implementing 15 canal water projects worth ₹2,174 crore, benefiting 1,706 villages and 25 lakh people. Punjab has also attained Open Defecation-Free (ODF) status across all villages, with 10,435 villages reaching ODF Plus status. Sanitation improvements include constructing 5.64 lakh household toilets, 1,340 public conveniences, and introducing solid and grey-water management systems in thousands of villages. These initiatives have significantly enhanced rural health, hygiene, and environmental sustainability.
