Global Migrant Workforce 2022
The International Labour Organization (ILO) highlighted that 167.7 million migrants were active in the global workforce in 2022, an increase of over 30 million since 2013. Europe saw a rise in migrant workers to 23.3% due to favourable policies, while North America’s share declined to 22.6%. High-income countries employed 68.4% of migrants. Migrants made up 37.2% of the Arab States' labour force. Gender disparities persist, with 48.1% of migrant women employed compared to 72.8% of men. Migrant workers significantly contribute to labour market demands and economic growth, necessitating protective measures for their rights and access to decent work.
