India and ADB Loan Agreement for Meghalaya
India signed a million loan agreement with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to enhance water security in Meghalaya. The project will construct 532 water storage facilities, develop 3,000 hectares for irrigation, and introduce renewable energy solutions like micro-hydropower systems. It aligns with Meghalaya's State Water Policy of 2019 and includes establishing weather stations for climate data collection. ADB will assist in developing a master plan for water management and train local communities, focusing on women. This initiative addresses climate change adaptation and sustainable development in the region.
