Production-Linked Incentive 2.0 Scheme
The Government of India plans to launch the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) 2.0 scheme for drones, aiming to create a self-reliant ecosystem by encouraging domestic production and reducing reliance on imports. With a proposed funding of ₹1,000 crore, the scheme seeks to boost local manufacturing to 30% of the total drone value and promote related services like leasing and software sales. India currently hosts 300 drone manufacturers, and the scheme intends to foster growth in diverse applications, including defence, agriculture, and surveillance. It expands on the earlier PLI scheme of 2021, focusing on innovation and job creation in the drone sector.
