India and ADB Sign $98 Million Horticulture Loan
India and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) have signed a million loan agreement to enhance horticulture through the Atmanirbhar Clean Plant Programme (CPP). The initiative focuses on providing farmers with disease-free planting materials via clean plant centres and certification systems for private nurseries. Supported by the Ministry of Agriculture, National Horticulture Board, and ICAR, the project aims to improve crop yield, quality, and climate resilience. While fostering collaboration and promoting sustainable practices, challenges like farmer education and certification adherence remain. A comprehensive strategy and enhanced research funding will ensure the program’s long-term success.
