Bomb Cyclone
A bomb cyclone is a rapidly intensifying storm characterized by a steep drop in atmospheric pressure (≥24 millibars in 24 hours). The approaching storm near the US West Coast may drop 70 millibars in a day, reaching pressures akin to a Category 4 hurricane. It will merge with an atmospheric river, leading to significant rainfall and snowfall. Coastal erosion, inland flooding, and record snowfall are likely impacts. This phenomenon highlights the growing intensity of weather events linked to climate change, necessitating stronger mitigation policies and disaster preparedness.
