Launch of Spoofed Calls Prevention System in India
Summary: India has launched the 'International Incoming Spoofed Calls Prevention System', led by Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, as part of efforts to enhance digital safety. Developed in collaboration with Telecom Service Providers (TSPs), the system blocks international spoofed calls that appear as Indian numbers, combating scams like financial fraud and impersonation. Within 24 hours of its launch, it blocked 1.35 crore calls, targeting 90% of suspicious international calls. This initiative marks an important step towards protecting Indian telecom subscribers, with ongoing monitoring and improvements planned to adapt to evolving cyber threats.
