ODF Plus

ODF Plus is an initiative by the Indian government to enhance sanitation and waste management, aiming to sustain open defecation-free status in over 547,283 towns. Announced by the Jal Shakti Ministry, ODF Plus emphasizes long-lasting sanitation methods and effective waste management. Villages are categorized into Aspiring, Rising, and Model based on their progress. Significant achievements are noted in states like Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, while regions like Jammu and Kashmir lag. The initiative promotes community engagement, education on sanitation, and inclusivity, aiming for long-term public health improvements despite challenges like regional disparities and the need for continuous monitoring.
