New Snake Eel Species Discovered in Odisha
Scientists from the Zoological Survey of India (ZSI) at the Gopalpur regional center in Odisha have discovered a new species of snake eel named "Ophichthus Suryai." This species, found in various estuarine ecosystems, is distinguished by its dorsal fin position, unique vertebrae count, and teeth arrangement. The discovery, led by Anil Mohapatra, underscores the importance of marine biodiversity and the efforts of Indian scientists in marine conservation.
