New Blue Ant Species Discovered in Eastern Himalayas
Scientists discovered a new ant species, Paraparatrechina neela, in Arunachal Pradesh's Siang Valley. This shiny blue ant, less than 2 mm long, is the first of its genus found in the Indian subcontinent in over a century. The discovery, funded by the National Geographic Society, highlights the region's biodiversity and the importance of conservation amidst environmental threats. Recording such species aids in developing effective protection strategies for both wildlife and human communities.
