EU Allocates $1 Billion Aid to Lebanon
The European Union, under the leadership of Ursula von der Leyen, has pledged
billion in aid to Lebanon to address its severe economic crisis and manage the challenges of hosting two million Syrian refugees and increased irregular migration. Announced on May 2, 2024, this aid aims to enhance Lebanon's basic services like education and health and support economic reforms. This assistance also focuses on improving border security and combating migrant smuggling, highlighting a coordinated regional effort to manage migration while supporting Lebanon through its socio-economic difficulties.
