The Indian Drugs Controller has approved Cholederm.

What:

• It is a tissue engineering scaffold for healing skin wounds.
• It is an animal-derived class D biomedical device.
  • Class D medical devices are high risk medical devices with highly stringent compliance requirements under the 2017 Medical Device Rules of India.

Why:

• It is used in cases where the skin has been destroyed (like in burns) and a graft has to be used for healing.
• Can be used for healing burn wounds, diabetic wounds, etc.
