Telecom Industry Ban on Illegal WiFi 6E Routers
The Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), which represents key telecom firms like Reliance Jio, Airtel, and Vodafone Idea, has requested the Department of Telecom (DoT) to enforce a ban on the sale of WiFi 6E routers. These routers operate illegally on the 6 GHz band, which is not yet authorized for public use and can lead to unauthorized transmissions. COAI's action highlights concerns over potential liabilities for consumers using these devices and stresses the need for stringent regulatory measures to prevent illegal sales and ensure compliance within the telecom sector.
