Search and Rescue Aid Tool (SARAT)

The Search and Rescue Aid Tool (SARAT), developed by the Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS), supports sea rescue operations by predicting the drift of missing objects using environmental factors like winds, currents, and waves. Initially introduced in 2016, SARAT has been upgraded to SARAT 2 with advanced visuals, colour-coded search areas, and options to customise searches based on object characteristics. The tool uses high-resolution ocean current data and allows users to choose from 60 object types for tailored operations. SARAT enhances the efficiency of rescue missions conducted by agencies like the Indian Coast Guard.
