Regional Conference on “Drug Trafficking and National Security”

Union Home Minister Amit Shah led a regional conference addressing the link between drug trafficking and national security. As part of India’s Zero Tolerance Policy on drugs, the conference discussed disposing of 44,792 kg of narcotics worth ₹2411 crore during the Drug Disposal Fortnight (11-25 January 2025). Key initiatives include strengthening Anti-Narcotics Task Forces (ANTFs), enhancing forensic capabilities, and expediting drug-related cases through NDPS courts. The strategy aims for a drug-free nation by 2047, involving improved law enforcement, public awareness campaigns, and inter-state cooperation. The conference underscores the government’s commitment to curbing drug trafficking and protecting national security.
