NISAR Mission
The NISAR mission is a collaborative Earth observation initiative by NASA and ISRO, set to launch in March 2025. Utilizing dual-band radar technology (L-band and S-band), the satellite will capture detailed data on Earth’s land, ice, and ecosystems every 12 days. The mission aims to monitor environmental changes, track natural disasters, and enhance understanding of geological movements. Key contributors include NASA, providing the L-band radar and antenna, and ISRO, supplying the S-band radar and spacecraft bus. NISAR will offer free, cloud-based data access to global researchers, supporting disaster response, climate studies, and sustainable development efforts worldwide.
