Nepal-Bangladesh Electricity Export

Nepal has begun exporting 40 MW of electricity to Bangladesh through India’s power grid, marking a milestone in regional energy collaboration. Facilitated by a tripartite agreement signed in October 2024, the initiative underscores Nepal's hydropower potential and addresses Bangladesh's energy crisis, worsened by Adani plant disruptions. Advocated by Nepal’s PM Pushpa Kamal Dahal, this green energy effort aims to foster industrial growth and regional prosperity. Despite political instability in Bangladesh, the collaboration promises cost-effective energy solutions and enhanced sub-regional connectivity, strengthening economic and energy security.
