Mandatory MFA and E-Way Bill Updates in 2025

From April 1, 2025, Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) will be mandatory for all taxpayers using updated E-Way Bill and E-Invoice systems. Phased implementation starts January 1, 2025, for taxpayers with annual turnovers above ₹20 crore, extending to all taxpayers by April. The NIC will release updated systems, ensuring compliance with new rules, including a 180-day limit for document validation and a 360-day extension cap for E-Way Bills. These measures aim to enhance security and reduce tax evasion. Taxpayers must adapt their processes to align with stricter compliance, ensuring valid Invoice Reference Numbers (IRN) and seamless GST adherence.
