Jan Aushadhi Scheme (PMBJP)
Summary: The Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP) is an initiative by the Indian government to provide affordable, high-quality medicines to the public. Through this program, medicines are sold at prices 50% to 90% lower than their branded equivalents, making essential healthcare more accessible. The government plans to expand the number of Jan Aushadhi Kendras from 13,000 to 25,000 by 2027. The medicines are produced by WHO-GMP certified units and undergo rigorous quality checks before distribution through an extensive network of warehouses and Kendras across India, ensuring high-quality healthcare access for all citizens.
