James Webb Telescope Discovers Earliest Giant Galaxy
The James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) discovered the earliest known giant galaxy, JADES-GS-z14-0, which dates back to 290 million years after the Big Bang. This galaxy is 1,700 light-years across, with a mass of 500 million suns, and forms 20 new stars annually. The discovery challenges existing theories about early galaxy formation and brightness. JWST, launched in 2021, operates 1.5 million kilometers from Earth, specializing in high-resolution infrared observations.
