Indian Tobacco Board Promotes Export Growth
The Tobacco Board of India (TBI) is advancing its efforts to promote Indian tobacco exports, focusing on markets like the UAE. Established in 1976, the TBI regulates production and ensures export quality through certifications like the Certificate of Origin and Certificate of Authenticity. Serving over 128 countries, it supports 226 exporters of unmanufactured tobacco and 557 manufacturers of processed products. With a focus on branding and quality, TBI aims to boost farmer income and economic contribution. However, it faces challenges like non-tariff barriers and competition. Enhanced branding, strategic agreements, and farmer-centric policies are key to future growth.
